Thursday Thankfulness

Thursday Thankfulness: "

I latched onto flashlight idea last night, and then today remembered I’d seen this LOLCat post. Rather fortuitous, I thought! :D

I have flashlights in a variety of sizes. I have the little teeny one on my keychain. I have the big one for when the lights go out or we take the kids trick-or-treating. (Well, when they used to allow it at night, anyway.) And I have the little 6” jobbie I keep at my desk for when I need to check out a baby’s sore throat or something. Like yesterday.

For the record, she only had a very slight inflammation, nothing serious and it’s gone today. :)

But how handy, how nice to have that within reach.

And how many times in life do we need to have a little light thrown on a situation or a thought or an idea? Sometimes our thoughts churn ‘round in our heads, growing darker and dimmer with each moment. It’s not until someone flips a light on them that we can see them for the cockroaches they are and do something about it. If our ideas, our convictions, can’t stand up to the light, then they aren’t worth having. A flashlight shouldn’t be just a tangible thing, it should also be an ideological thing.

Sometimes the bones of my victims are the remnants of the wrong thoughts I’ve slain over the years. It’s good that they’re dead.

Honestly, I have no idea what prompted me to write that. I’m thankful for my flashlights. All of them. And not just the ones with the batteries inside, either. :D

Ps 119:105 Thy Word is a light unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Wednesday Whittles

Wednesday Whittles: "

It seems to be a week of slumps. It’s hard to find things to blog about after that long weekend. I pulled out WIGSF’s list of Wednesday things that he left on my blog a week or 2 ago, when I was complaining, and thinking Wednesday Woe, or Wretched Wednesday would be a really bad idea. He had a lot of great ideas on that list. Today he made me laugh because on his blog he made the observation that Aston Kutcher is really just a tall Tom Cruise. Later in the evening that came back to mind, and I thought to myself how I never thought about celebrities much anymore, certainly not like I did when I was a teen. And I had forgotten that not 5 minutes before, I’d made the observation to my husband that Richard Gere and Patrick Stewart could pass for brothers, if you shaved Gere.

I grabbed half a dozen books from the library, so now I have a lot to read when the old connection goes out on me. NoConnectI love that little Shelfari website! I try to update it every time I come back from the library, but I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it is to remember all the stuff I’ve read over the years. I don’t remember book titles! Who are we kidding here! I can’t even remember movie titles from movies I saw last week! Total Swiss cheese memory when it comes to that stuff, but I can remember birthdays like nobody’s business.

I also got a ton of movies to watch, some I’ve never seen before, and some that are tried and true. They still didn’t have Clash of the Titans, the 80’s one, and I found out I’m 7th on the list. *sigh* 7th? That might be a long wait, considering they don’t even have a copy in stock.

WIGSF, here’s a couple of pictures I thought you might enjoy. Wombats, for your Wednesday viewing pleasure. :D

Tuesday Tootsies

Tuesday Tootsies: "

In honor of this being my month – yes, my month, the whole month is mine, I own it – I thought I’d pick some shoes in my favorite colors, in honor of this also being the 1st of the month and I’ve changed the colors on my blog to my favorite colors. Figured I’d do a “match” thing. :D Did you follow all that? LOL

Yellow! Must have yellow! Cheerful, sunshiny, happy, yellow. Feet, and my kitchen, must have some yellow. Kind of hard to find yellow shoes. For such a happy color it doesn’t seem to be a very popular color for shoes, except for rain boots. There are a couple in this picture that I really like though, namely the high heels. :)

These were interesting. Pretty bold.

image

I like this – they have a nice summery feel.

image

Pink. How awesome is pink? Delicate, feminine, soft. Feet must also have pink. So should my clothing. I love this with the black lacy ruffle around the pale pink.

image

These reminded me a little of disco dancing, LOL. But they are metallic and I love metallic. I confess, I am drawn to the shiny, sparkly things. ;)

image

The bottom pair were kind of cool.

image

Purple. Ahh, royalty. Power. Also feminine when in lavender shades. Need I say more?

Seriously sexy, feminine, and in control. ;)

image

These too.

And purple does seem to be popular for gym shoes, and note the metallic shiny again. :D

image

So I tried to see if I could find any shoes in all 3 of my favorite colors. All I could find were gym shoes.

Believe it or not, these are men’s.

image

The ladies are a bit more on the pastel side. I like them both, but I think I actually like the men’s shoes better, if I was seriously going to buy a pair of shoes that had all my favorite colors on them.

So that’s it for this week’s version of Tootsies. My favorite colors. :D What are your favorite colors and would you buy shoes in that/those colors?
